About Melissa "MOJO" Hunter Melissa Jo Hunter grew up in Indianapolis, IN.  Like the race cars her city is known for, Melissa accelerated, but in academics!  Her parents knew she was talented when in 3rd grade she was accepted into an accelerated learning program doing school studies one to two years ahead of her time for the Academically Talented.  Melissa always knew she had to overcome tremendous obstacles to succeed.  Growing up in a "bad" neighborhood, where drugs,gangs, drop-outs and teenage pregnancy were extremely common, Melissa learned how to resist such negative factors and stay cool...but also stay in school.  She knew she had to work hard to be able to further her studies after High School.  She is the FIRST person in her family to graduate from High School, let alone graduate from a University with a triple major!  She knew the only way she would be able to afford to go to college was to earn scholarships.  Melissa did not only earn a scholarship, she earned THREE! One of her scholarship sponsors, the Boys & Girls Club, played a large factor in Melissa's success.  The club provided a safe haven from "the streets" and gave her mentors and leaders she proudly looked up to.  Among the many values and golden rules taught at such after school programs, she learned that no one drifts into success!  You have to be responsible for YOUR actions and YOUR destiny!  Just because others can not do something...does not mean you can not!  Melissa led a new path, straight out of that bad neighborhood into a world of glitz & glamour and fame & fortune!
